Print & Glass

Behind the name Print & Glass hides a newly developed system from Biedermann that opens up several possibilities for the design of pictures in connection with glass: in-store promotions and signage, doors, tables, mirrors, tiles etc.

A special film enables the mounting of pictures behind as well as in-between glass. The application is simple: The film as well as the picture have to be cut according to the size of the glass and afterwards processed as a so called sandwich in a vacuum thermo press or rather in a vacuum thermo table VacuVers®.

In addition to the apparent protection aspect this kind of application allows a high-quality, expressive presentation of images. The unique system ensures that no space remains between the glass and the print after the direct mounting process. This allows a first-class picture presentation with intensive and brilliant colours without any visual interruptions. Depending on the kind of application different transparency levels from opaque to translucent can be achieved.

Furthermore the facemounting of pictures on glass has some decisive advantages compared to the optically similar facemounting on acrylic glass: glass is far more scratch-resistant and does not absorb humidity. Therefore an expansion or deformation of the material is impossible. A further advantage is the safety factor since the stability of the glass is highly enhanced by the mounting process. In case of breakage of the glass due to a fall or other mechanical influences the connection between glass and film prevents the occurrence of loose glass splinters.
